New issue 519138 by ***@gmail.com: Chrome Remote Desktop Host
installation fails on Mac 10.11 El Capitan
https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=519138

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_11_0)
AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/44.0.2403.130 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Download Remote Desktop Host for Mac.
2. Run the installer
3. Click on Continue button, click on Install, authenticate to install

What is the expected behavior?
Expected install to complete successfully.

Fails 100% of time.

Last tried on 10.11 build 15A243d

But note that others having this issue since June.

What went wrong?
Install fails after validating package message.

Installer shows error message in attached screenshot.

WebStore page:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/chrome-remote-desktop/gbchcmhmhahfdphkhkmpfmihenigjmpp?hl=en

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: 44.0.2403.130 Channel: stable
OS Version: OS X 10.11.0
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 18.0 r0

See this support forum mention, other users having this issue since June.

https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome/AflLuNgqgn0;context-place=topicsearchin/chrome/el$20capitan$20remote

Existing Yosemite installs continue to work. It seems like this is "just"
an install failure...

https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=519138

Ok, in spite of the clear failure message, it actually looks like the host
ends up installing. After restarting chrome and running remote desktop, I
can enable connections to the mac the install failed on.

Obviously pretty confusing though....

AJ, can you run a full test pass on 10.11 to see what else might be broken?

Dan, can you investigate? There may be other issues on 10.11, but we need a
working installer to find them :)

https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src.git/+/b93f71516208ffe3901269e964f4fe308d433279

commit b93f71516208ffe3901269e964f4fe308d433279
Author: Gary Kacmarcik <***@google.com>
Date: Thu Sep 17 00:33:36 2015

Fix Chromoting install on Mac OS X 10.11 (El Capitan).

Install was failing when trying to start the host process with a sandbox
error:
launchctl System Policy: deny mach-priv-task-port

This is because we were using bsexec to create our sandbox (which requires
a task id) and the default policy on 10.11 has been changed from earlier
versions to deny this.

The problem is fixed by using asuser instead of bsexec.

Derek, Chrome Remote Desktop M46 release is already out. If you are still
seeing a problem, it probably has a different underlying cause. Please file
a separate bug.

Chrome Remote Desktop M46 release is already out. If you are still seeing a
problem, it probably has a different underlying cause. Please file a
separate bug so that we're not conflating unrelated issues with similar
symptoms and follow up with the bug number here.

To save one round-trip, it would be helpful if you could include the
installer logs in your initial report. To get them, open Console, clear it
(to reduce the number of log messages you'll need to submit) then try to
install the host. After it fails, check Console again and send us the
output.

I'm also seeing this error on Chrome Remote Desktop Host 46.0.2490.17 and
El Capitan (both 10.11.0 and 10.11.1) This is not a new error, as you can
see in the attached log, the error is still:

After installing 10.11.1 I have a message in the CRD preference pane that
remote contacts have been disabled. re-installing 47 did not change this.
Is there a solution?

It's always like that for me. CRD still works fine.

OK, the real question is how do I get it working again?

I have uninstalled and re-installed the host (M47) on my iMac twice and
logged out and back in and restarted. It just sits there.

The client on my iPad Tells me that I was on line with a correct time so
that part is working.

This happened last spring and after about two months it started working
again.

PS No crashing - just refuses to work. I suspect the installation process
and running Disk Warrior was the cause, but what is the fix?

What is not working? After installing the M47 DMG and opening the Chrome
Remote Desktop app in Google Chrome and pressing Share for instance, do you
get a code, and if so, can't you connect with that code from another
computer?

that did it - nice clear instructions help. I was forgetting the smtp about
using Chrome to re-start things.
